The Red Rattler is a queer-run, not-for-profit and volunteer-driven theatre in Marrickville, in Sydney's inner west. It is community owned and was established in 2009 by five local queer artists who wanted a licensed warehouse venue for alternative Sydney arts, performance and grassroots activism. The downstairs theatre is a ground-level, warehouse-style space of 300 square metres, holding 300 standing or 120 seated. It has a bar, a raised stage, a professional audio system, a lighting rig, a projector and a stage-width screen, with wheelchair access and non-gendered accessible toilets. It hosts live music, club nights, cabaret, theatre and performance, talks and fundraisers.
