About
The school opened in 1946 inside a Buddhist temple as Wallahagoda Central College, later took the Gampola name, and became Wickramabahu in 1960 after the education reforms. It stands on Nawalapitiya Road and has about 1,500 pupils. The auditorium is listed on Sri Lanka's stage-drama directory, and the band Ranwala Balakaya played an arts festival there called Bambarudula in 2025.
