The club started in Kandy in 1939 and was set up for the British executive community in Ceylon. It now occupies a colonial house with a lawn on Independence Avenue. The Urban Development Authority took the property over in November 2020 and reopened it, renovated, on 21 October 2021. The building has 14,200 square feet over two floors, six dining rooms and a billiard room. Waters Edge runs it.
